Frequently Asked Questions
What are your beliefs?
We believe in the historic Christian faith as set forth in the Scriptures, and in conforming our worship and church life to the pattern of the New Testament. (Click here to read our Statement of Faith.) Our ministry concentrates on accurate teaching of the Bible and its application to our personal lives. For us, an important focus of Christian teaching is on how to be a family, caring for one another.
Does First Christian Church belong to a denomination?
We are an independent congregation, not connected formally to any group of churches. But we believe in working together with all Bible-centered churches to share the good news of Jesus, both in our community and beyond.
How does the church govern itself?
In decision making we are led by the principles of the Word of God. Formally, we have a church board that manages the business of the church. We have two Elders and five Deacons, plus other officers who exercise their appropriate leadership roles.
Who is your Pastor?
The Pastor provides Bible teaching each Sunday. Jim Dain will take up his responsibilities as First Christian Church's Pastor on December 3, 2017.
Should I dress up to attend church?
Many worshipers dress casually, including people in a leadership role. But if you want to dress up, that's okay, too.
How often do you observe Communion, and do I have to be a member of your church to receive Communion?
We observe Communion, or the Lord's Supper, every Sunday as did the Christians of the New Testament. You don't have to be a church member to participate, but you should know Jesus Christ as your Savior. Further guidelines are found in 1 Corinthians, chapter 11.
